Valeriya Litvinova
The Hyperreal

In March, Art Brut Gallery hosted an exhibition titled “The Hyperreal.” The author of the works is Valeriya Litvinova, a young artist from Kazakhstan.

From the Artist: “I am an artist from Kazakhstan. I’m 22 years old and came to Poland three years ago to study; I’m currently studying psychology. I have been painting and creating art compositions since childhood, engaging in a wide range of creative activities. I can’t precisely define the style I work in, as my preferences are constantly changing — I paint everything and with everything! I do digital art and design, paint with acrylics, oils, and coloured pencils. I often find that my art isn’t widely accepted, but I paint for my own therapy — and perhaps, through it, I will find my audience... I can’t imagine life without art, because every day I feel the need to create something; this is how I express emotions I usually keep silent about.”

Visitors can expect a truly visual feast of shapes, forms, and colours. The works on display are deeply symbolic, characterised by bold, multicoloured compositions that combine fantastical imagery with a controversial exploration of the body — and within these creations, one may even find traces of self-portraiture.
