The Garden of Love
Robert Karwat, known by his artistic name Habibi, is a multidisciplinary artist – writer, photographer, and above all, a deeply sensitive observer of the world. His keen perception allows him to capture depth in everyday life, in his encounters with nature, and in relationships with others. In his work, Habibi focuses on all-encompassing love, unity with nature, and with God — themes that resonate in the exhibition’s title, The Garden of Love.
The presented works were created using the artist’s own experimental technique, employing simple, everyday tools such as a mobile phone camera, a bedside lamp, and a sheet of black paper.
It is worth recalling a few fragments of the artist’s writing to understand him better:
Then I thought:
One day I will be among the stars
— but not yet.
I turned my gaze back to the earth.
I already know that I will look at the Sun
more and more.
For it is like gazing into the face of God
— the sight may burn, may kill —
but perhaps it is worth it,
perhaps something will be revealed…
There is one bond
which, despite different ways of perception
and individual inclinations,
may unite us inseparably —
it is Love, all-embracing and unconditional.
Love…
Where do I come from, whose heritage drives me
Along these hard and unfathomable paths?
Why is this game so full of pain —
And what more do you expect of me?
