Jerzy Gembal was born on August 18, 1936, in Końskowola. He graduated from the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Nałęczów. Since 1980, he has been a member of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts. Currently, as a retiree, he lives and works in Lublin. He has been painting for over 55 years, usually using oil or watercolor techniques, often mixed media; he also sketches and draws.

He worked at the Truck Factory in Lublin as an artist and mold filler. At the FSC Cultural Center, he co-founded the Amateur Artists' Club, which has been operating since 1977.

He participated in numerous collective and individual exhibitions, including at the FSC Cultural Center in Lublin, the LSM Cultural Center in Lublin, the Gallery of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and many others. He participated in open-air painting events in Nałęczów, the National Open-Air Painting Workshop “Autumn – 1978” in Kazimierz Dolny nad Wisłą, the National Open-Air Painting Workshop in Firlej, the International Open-Air Painting Workshop in Puławy in 1997, and open-air workshops in Gardzienice, Łęczna, Rabka, and Szczyrk.

The subjects of his paintings are mostly landscapes, floral compositions, and architecture. The artist's works are rich in color and simple in form. The clash of colorful spots creates depth and atmosphere.
